About

Hello, and welcome.

I’m Elysia, a registered counsellor based in Perth, Western Australia. I completed a postgraduate Master of Counselling degree at Edith Cowan University, and hold additional
training in gestalt psychotherapy.

Prior to my counselling career, I worked in varied roles including providing front-line support for survivors of institutionalised childhood sexual abuse (CSA), disability, and acute mental
health issues and co-morbidities. It was a valuable introduction to the field of mental health and I enjoyed building trusting relationships with my clients.

During my postgraduate training, I worked as a youth counsellor in the not-for-profit community mental health sector, where I provided direct counselling support to individuals aged 12-25 who were experiencing family domestic violence, sexual abuse, self-harm and suicide ideation, eating disorders, self-esteem, neurodiversity, and interpersonal concerns. This furthered my interest and experience in early intervention and crisis counselling.

Subsequent experience included counselling and triage roles at both Curtin and Notre Dame University, where I provided academic, wellbeing and mental health support to clients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds across the lifespan. This influenced me to adopt a flexible approach to my counselling practice, where I draw from integrative and evidence-based interventions to support the needs of my clients.

Above all, my primary interest is cultivating trusting and supportive relationships with my clients – this is the foundation of meaningful change. I offer support to individuals aged 18 years and above and my areas of focus include (but are not limited to) anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, chronic health issues, body image concerns, and social, relationship, and self-esteem issues. I work closely with my clients to validate their experience and guide them toward accessing a greater level of awareness and self-compassion.
